S Duddy Roofing Contractors was established in 1898 (yes 120 years ago!) in Marple, Stockport. So we have enjoyed well over a century of successful trading in the roofing industry undertaking all aspects of roofing works. We put this longevity down to quality workmanship, reliability and a good reputation. This quality is there for all to see in Marple and the surrounding areas as many of the roofs have been installed and maintained by S Duddy. We are one of the Founder Members of the National Federation of Roofing Contractors.

We can provide all your roofing needs in the North West of England. Based in Marple, Stockport and established since 1898, we are best placed to offer every aspect of all roofing requirements including specialist services as listed further down the page. Our fully qualified roofers are all trained in house to our high standards and training is ongoing in order to keep up with regulations and compliance. When you use us for your roofing needs, you can be assured of a 1st class service from a long established company.
All our operatives are trained to a high standard in both tradesmanship and health and safety. We currently have 3 apprentices studying Slating & Tiling and Lead work. We also operate a rolling training scheme with courses such as Manual Handling, Layher Scaffolding and Asbestos Awareness. All our operatives hold Construction Skills Certification Scheme card. The Company holds comprehensive Public and Employers Liability Insurance. Risk Assessments and Method Statements are carried out on all works.
One of our highest priorities is ensuring that no damage occurs when working on your property. We protect driveways, lawns low level roofs with plywood and windows with plastic sheeting to ensure no scratches or impact damage occurs. Our jobs are scaffolded where necessary and brick guards or toe-boards are utilised. All necessary licenses are obtained. Our jobs are kept clean and tidy at all times.
The two main types of pitched roofing are slating and tiling. We only use best quality Welsh or imported slates and they are all fixed to current British Standards (specifically BS5534). Our tiles are supplied by well known manufacturers and all associated products are supplied by the same manufactures. There is no mix and match! In line with our training policy we currently employ 2 apprentice Slaters and Tilers.

Duddy's came to look at a job for me almost a month ago. The guy didn't seem particularly interested. It was a reroof of a front canopy and outbuilding in slate and tiles. He informed me on leaving how they'd been successfully trading since 1898, then never bothered to send a quote. I rang after 3 weeks and chased it up. Still no response. Happy to have instructed another company who were interested, friendly and priced the work competitively. They were also happy to include replacing 3 ft rafters on the canopy, something Duddy's needed a joiner to do. Wasted my time.

S Duddy Roofing completed a whole re-roofing for us in June 2019 and did a fantastic job. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and responsive. When we had a couple of recent queries (Sept 2020), they were happy to come back and sort them out for us quickly and free of charge. We have found them to be a professional and reliable company.

Duddys' fitted 2 new valley's and a number of ridge tiles to my home. They did an excellent job for me. I found them to be professional from the initial quotation through to completion of the repair. The roofers that did the work were considerate and tidy throughout. Will definitely recommend to my neighbour's.

I am very pleased with all aspects of a roofing job done recently by S Duddy. The initial visit by Lee was prompt, courteous and fully explained the various options. This was followed up with both an on line and postal quote. The starting date for the job was delayed by the bad weather but Lee kept me informed The work was done to a high standard and the team ensured the site was kept clean, safe and tidy. On completion they checked I was fully satisfied. Not the cheapest quote I had but the excellent customer service and the longevity of the company justified my choice.

I have been using Duddy Roofing for the last 3 years and have found them very professional. They are local to me and always helpful. The quality of their work is high standard although it comes at a cost. However they guarantee their work. My kitchen roof repair was done by Duddy's about a year and half ago. It started leaking again recently. Lee from Duddy's came and assessed the fault and damage.
He was good to acknowledge it was a fault from their previous repair and got everything sorted without any cost. This quality is very rare these days. I always trust our local business. Thanks
