The National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC) is the UK's largest roofing trade association. With a history spanning almost 120 years, the NFRC has established itself as the voice of the roofing industry, constantly adapting to change and innovation to ensure its members are at the forefront.
We provide estimates to home owners at no charge. Firstly a site inspection is scheduled for our estimator to visit your property and view the water ingress and roof in question. Once the inspection has taken place we can then discuss the options available. The estimates we provide are to a very high standard, and include a diagnosis to all visible defects that could be seen where safe access can be gained to the roof.
We offer a company 10-year guarantee, with a back-up guarantee which covers the Client in the event of insolvency of the Contractor. The guarantee was set up by the National Federation of Roofing Contractors and the Insolvency Guarantee by a Leading Insurance Company, setting out strict guidelines, stipulating that the materials and works must comply with a British Standard Code of Practice.

We couldn't be happier. We'd used them before-- 20 yrs ago-- to do some roof repairs and reshingle our roof. This time we needed new guttering out front. The crew came out quickly and did what we needed by way of replacing some faulty gutters and fixing some flashing that another contractor had not installed properly on a flat roof. Best of all, they were super accommodating about getting the scaffolding down for us quickly to facilitate our daughter's birthday party. The whole thing-- scaffolding up, gutter on, and scaffolding down-- took less than a week

A thoroughly professional service throughout. Initial inspection with photos, then a detailed typed specification of the work to be done with a rapid response to clarification questions, and a contract with a schedule of payments. Each team ie scaffolders, flat roofers, valley roofers and lead workers were communicative, efficient and polite. A 30 year old family run firm with the Father still in harness visiting work sites. Horncastle & Sons replaced an extremely old section of zinc roofing which had been letting in water with lead. The work was completed quickly and at the quoted price. The whole team was extremely friendly and polite, keeping us up to date along the way. The roof has proved watertight following more recent heavy rain! We are very pleased with the work.

Very professional business. All Horncastle Sons and employees Fair, Honest and True. Jeff and Jay did a first class Flat roof refurbishment on our loft extension, Ridge Tiles and Hips. Guttering renewed Chimney repointed and new Pots reseated. 2 small flat roofs in good condition given 2 coats of Solar paint and associated minor repairs to bring whole roof onto good condition. Jamie estimated from the ground as closely as possible.
He was punctual with good communication and did what he said. There was some extra work required when extensive scaffolding erected. I was able to go up scaffolding to see what was needed and review work in progress. My due diligence on choosing a professional company paid off. Photos provided for estimate and when completed. Quote was one of the most expensive however so are Mercedes and BMW cars. You get what you pay for and a great guarantee. Thank you Horncastle.

Awful company who should not be trusted or contracted to complete any work. Following a small leak in my flat due to blocked guttering, I hired Horncastle to clean the gutters. Horncastle previously worked on my roof and have known the property for 10+ years, and I therefore contracted them for the cleaning despite the extremely high cost of 430. When they attended, their staff acknowledged the building's gutters are shared with next door, and the cost should be split.
Their employee spent no more than 15 minutes cleaning the gutters, and led me to believe the full work was completed and the issue would not reoccur. A few days later, while I was on holiday (which they knew I would be going on), a huge leak reoccured in my property, affecting the flats downstairs and severely damaging my walls. If the property was vacant as they expected it to be, the floor would have likely collapsed.
When asked to make good on their incomplete job, Horncastle initially refused until forced to when their liability was demonstrated. It then transpired that they failed to clean the other side of the guttering, despite knowing they were connected and a blockage on either side would cause a leak to reoccur. In the month since, Horncastle have refused to make good and pay for any of the damage caused by their dereliction, and instead have been attempting to avoid responsibility for failing to complete the job they were hired to do.
I have since contracted another company to regularly clean the gutters, who have stated it's an easy job, and will only charge 160 to clean all parts of the gutters affecting my property. They were in complete shock Horncastle charged so much for an incomplete job knowing the damage their inaction would cause. Save yourself the money and property damage and find another roofing company!

Critical: Value Asked for a quote to repair a leak. Said the entire roof needs replacing and then said it would cost 18k to do the work on a standard 3 bed victorian house. I only wanted the roof repaired - not replaced. Had another company come in and fix my leak for 1500. The roof is now leak free!

Excellent work, the most professional roofing company I've dealt with - prompt and detailed responses via email, excellent communication on the phone and in person. These folks are courteous and honest. Do not be afraid to use them for residential work - they are not more expensive than much smaller and suspect roofers! Horncastle and Sons are very professional, tidy and un-obstructive throughout = roofing for the 21st Century!

I'm so glad I went with Horncastle and Sons Ltd for this job. I had no previous experience of contracting for roof work or any other building work and, compounded with being female, I worried that I might be patronised. I did due diligence (searching for local companies via the National Federation of Roofing Contractors and also Competent Roofers, both of which Horncastle and Sons are affiliated with).
I was delighted to find Horncastle and Sons, who are based two streets from my house and have a very impressive yard. It is clear that they invest well in their business and as Kevin, head of the family, says, he wants to pass the business down through the generations so has no interest in doing shoddy work. My job was tricky repair work to a very non-standard roof. Kevin and Jamie were honest with me about the limitations of repairing the roof (which I could afford) relative to completely replacing it (which I could not afford). Understandably, they could not offer a guarantee on the repairs, (only on a total re-roof), but they were confident they could make it watertight and I was prepared to gamble on buying time to save up for the total re-roof. So far, so good! This is a proper family business of true craftsmen with an excellent work ethic and not a whiff of patronization! Roofing for the 21st century!

I have used Horncastle and Sons on a couple of occasions, once for my front bay window the last time for a rear flat roof and additional work to the bay window. The estimator / surveyor was one of the sons Jamie who was extremely pleasant and knowledgable. He took the details and provided a comprehensive breakdown of the work and costs. I received another quote from another builder who charge around a similar amount but failed to include for insulation and advice on the necessary building regulation requirement bothn of which Horncastle had detailed and included for.
I gave the work to Horncastle as they have been established for a number of years, are a local family firm and provided a 10 year guarantee backed by a professional body, The workers turned up when they said they would worked until a reasonable time and returned each day until the job was finished.
