We use no subcontractors for our lead roofing and only the best materials for example the right code of lead (thickness) for the job, all our fixings are non ferrous and timber pressure treated. Almost all new lead roofing sheets are produced from recycled raw materials. The scrap collection and recycling industry for lead is now so efficient that its collection rate is almost 100% which means that very little new lead needs to be dug from the ground. The other bonus for lead recycling is that it is done at relative low temperatures so harmful emissions and energy use are minimised.
Where theft could or has been a problem, using an alternative to lead can be the best choice. For some time now Everitt Lead Roofing have been asked for a lead replacement product that we would recommend and until recently we did not have an answer.
